Midstack Directory Update
I did a long overdue update to the Midstack Directory this week. There are now about 400 publications by and for midlife women in the Directory!
If you haven’t submitted your publication to be included, you can do that HERE.
This is wonderful, and I’m thrilled that it keeps growing, but the Directory is just so long and is crying out for organization. I’m pondering ways to organize it — using categories and topics — and I emailed current Directory members for category suggestions.
In any case, this is going to be a big project and will not happen overnight, but stay tuned! And if you have any organizational ideas for the Directory, or any ideas to make the Directory more useful in general, please feel free to DM me or leave a comment below.
Old-School Blogging Round-up
I also asked in my email for ideas about how Midstackers can collaborate, and one Midstacker had this suggestion, which I love.
She wrote, “In the olden days of blogging, I used to be part of a group that would all publish a piece, linked to the same writing prompt, on their own blog, but then there was a round-up page on a main website that linked to all the blog pieces. It would be great if Midstack acted as the main website, and we could have our submissions to a specific prompt listed there.”
I too — in my days of parenting blogging years and years ago — participated in these roundups and continue to be amazed by the friendships and support that grew out of them.
Here’s how it would work:
I’d post a topic or prompt a week ahead of time.
You’d publish a post on your Substack responding to the prompt or topic.
I’d publish a round-up post of all your posts.
For a writing prompt, maybe something about lessons learned in midlife. For this week’s share, I wrote about how gratitude changed my attitude.

I'd love a prompt about facing the unexpected in midlife. Many of us find ourselves living a life that's very different from the one we'd envisioned and/or planned for.
