Late to the party again...I'll get my head into this Friday share and indeed into Substack soon! I'd love to take a moment here to share my new publication 'The Wild Spark' and my latest piece sharing some practices I use to overcome anxiety and help you move forward with solo travel plans and journeys as a mid-life woman. You'll find the article here: https://discoverthewildspark.substack.com/p/the-wild-spark-travel-anxiety-toolkit?r=yorqk&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

Appreciate this space, though I'm always a couple days late. I've found some cool essays here. Mine this week is about a cosmic connection with an old friend who passed before I could say goodbye.

This week I want to share something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. Happiness versus Joy.

In my work these get confused all the time. I see the term happier being misused when really it’s joy. Maybe I’m wrong but the right activities and even objects can bring us more joy. I think happiness comes from a deeper place.

I realize those here with a background in the difference will think this as such an obvious statement.

Internet marketing often infers happiness will come from the right home, the right clothes, the right job. Maybe if they’re the right choice…you can get more joy from these things but happiness takes more than an object of our affection.

I haven’t written an article about the topic yet it’s still coming to the surface🤔.

That's so interesting. I think the opposite. The friend plantain I'm eating makes me feel happy. Joy is something deeper. I'm going to think on this more and am curious what you will write about it!

Me too… languaging at its core. I think in terms of mental health can someone depressed feel joy but may not be happy? But can they also feel happy?

I’m a naturally happy person so it’s very hard for me.

Can objects make us happier?

I have things in my home, people in my life that I think bring me great joy. But fo they change my state of happiness?

Hi, I’m Ankita. I’ve been blogging since 2004, and I write Lifestyle of a Professional, about motherhood, womanhood, identity, and the ordinary negotiations of everyday life. This week, I’m sharing an essay about healthy living once it leaves the wellness advertisement and enters real life.

Work schedules. Family meals. Dinner invitations. Tired bodies. Children who reject vegetables as a matter of personal philosophy. It is also about the quiet smugness that can come with discipline, and what happens when a healthy routine begins running your life instead of supporting it.

Looking forward to reading what everyone else has shared this week.

Hi! I'm Anna and I'm an American writer & mom living in London. I recently left corporate editorial to finish my novel, build a brand, and raise two girls. Court & Spark is where I write about pursuing play & creativity in the margins of a busy life.

This week I wrote about the weird revelation of missing people...and my quest to find them at a few literary events (and my takeaways from each one - including the very quotable advice from a publisher that I used for the title): "Don’t let someone you’re sleeping with read your first draft" https://substack.com/@annasvoboda/p-207820859

Hi everyone. Hope you had a good week. My latest essay is called "When Your Parenting Map Isn't Working Anymore". It's about facing those difficult times when you've lost connection with your teenager and you know in your heart that your usual approach isn't going to bring you back together. If it speaks to you, I'd be grateful for some comments and shares. Thanks. https://lori529.substack.com/p/when-your-parenting-map-isnt-working?r=1toywd&utm_medium=ios
