You're Invited: Writing to Publishing
A workshop for Substack writers who want readers — not just another content strategy
I’m excited to announce a new series of workshops about how to grow and nurture a readership on Substack, without feeling like you are sacrificing your voice or writing priorities.
This series of three free workshops is a collaboration with Amanda N. Bray of The Publishing Spectrum.
Amanda’s Substack is a truly special place, designed for those of us who want to write creatively and authentically on Substack and find readers but are not interested in algorithm hacks or content formulas. Amanda’s publication is one of the first I followed when I realized that much of the advice about Substack growth I was finding wasn’t resonating with me and my values and goals. I’ve recommended her publication to many other midlife writers like us since then.
You are invited to our first workshop together on Thursday, May 14th at 1 p.m. ET/ 12 p.m. CT.
Session 1: WRITE: Your Voice, Your Pace
Many writers on Substack are writing — but expecting publishing results.
These are two genuinely different modes, and mixing them up creates a particular kind of frustration: you’re working hard, your writing feels meaningful, but nothing seems to be moving.
This session helps you understand the difference, reflect honestly on what you’re here to do on Substack, and stop measuring yourself against the wrong thing.
You’ll leave with clarity about where you actually are — and real relief from where you thought you should be.”
— Read more from Amanda about the other two workshops HERE.
I also encourage you to explore and to subscribe to Amanda’s Substack.
And be sure to register for our workshop on Thursday, even if you can’t make it live. We’ll email a recording of the workshop to those who register.

Working a regular 9-5 job. Will there be a recording we can access if we register? Thank you.
This sounds great. I’m working on my schedule. Thank you Jessica
