Hi, I joined Midstack a few weeks ago but have not been back since, and I'm so happy to be here today! Here is my latest essay about whether relationships are an important part of life or just a distraction. Hope you enjoy and looking forward to reading everyone else's work!
Hi. I'm new here. My husband and I write YoFrance, a Substack about two former newspaper reporters who retired to France. We worked at a big city tabloid known for its attitude, sports and crime coverage (Philadelphia Daily News). I can't write any other way, so my Substacks are short, well reported. I can do funny or touching. I look forward to reading your work. www.YoFrance.substack.com.
I write about bodies, loss, motherhood, my psychotherapy practice and contemporary culture, all through a feminist lens.
This essay is my response to what I see as a misguided de-centring of the human body which ironically is prevalent in the ‘Body Positivity’ movement. It’s also shares some juicy stories about some of my psychotherapy training and an old injury that I’m newly nursing. Would LOVE to hear your responses!
Hi Myera, as a yoga teacher and former dancer this really spoke to me. I love hearing about the body vulnerability exercise in the circle. I wish there was more exploration on these beautiful bodies of ours!
Thanks so much. It's scary to have everything you want, you know? Always wondering when the other shoe will drop. Hopefuly--never. Hopefully--I'm finally where I was supposed to be all along. :)
Awesome that you offer this opportunity to share!! I just started my SS and lean in heavy with writing about the female experience, esp from a GenX perspective. It’s part trauma dumping, part funny (hopefully), part ragey…
I’m 47 and facing a very frightening and exhilarating fork in the road where my life until now has flipped upside down as I face the reality I’ve been living with for 25 years - that my marriage was not a healthy place for me and kept me small. So I choose to start anew and have written about all of the experiences that I think other women might be dealing with as well, and will feel seen and validated. Would love to share here!
Thanks you for this opportunity to share. I am a psychotherapist and certified sex therapist focused on helping women create the lives they want. I recently did a deep dive into the damage of the sexual purity culture on us and on our daughters. Here's the first article of a two part series. Thanks in advance to anyone interested in reading it. 🩵https://drheatherengland.substack.com/p/stained-purity-culture-women-shame?r=1ekdzu
I’m just scrolling through your page. Hate I missed the submission deadline, all I do is write and think about women in midlife. I’ll catch it next time. Great work!

Hi everyone, thank you for opening this space for us to share Jessica, much appreciated. I always discover new and interesting substacks to read. My essay this week is Do Not Confuse Motion with Progress - https://traceyfenner.substack.com/p/do-not-confuse-motion-with-progress. We live in a culture that prizes motion. Our days are packed, our calendars overflowing, our attention split in a hundred directions. Emails ping, notifications buzz, and somewhere between meetings, errands, and commitments, we convince ourselves that we’re moving forward. But how often do we actually pause long enough to ask: Is this moving me forward, or just keeping me moving?
Hi everyone! I am an entrepreneur, chef and retreat host writing a memoir about losing my business and my dad and moving to Portugal, thinking I was outrunning my hustle life, only to realize I brought it with me. Here is an essay I wrote about the gap between my vision and reality. I hope you enjoy it. https://nadinedoyle.substack.com/p/the-table?r=2hlzve&utm_medium=ios
My latest post is a poem about existential dread and hope in the guise of my neighbour’s magnolia tree. (I’m a recovering people pleaser writing after a reckoning with burnout and depression, learning to tread more softly on my feelings.) https://annamaija487.substack.com/p/magnolia?r=33ghj7&utm_medium=ios

Bienvenu Theresa! France is one of my favorite places. My son and I got to spend time in Paris last summer and I can't wait to return.
Have you checked out Brittany yet? It's fabulous.
Not yet, but i will put it on the list to check out!
My favorite place is the Rose Granite Coast.
It’s beautiful from the pics! It reminds me of Ireland a bit!
Welcome to Midstack, Theresa! I’ve never been to France but I love reading about it!

I did a little round up of what I've been and will be reading. https://callaloocollective.substack.com/p/readers-bulletin-last-current-next
I've just found this community and already I'm a fan--in love with every POV. ☺️
My latest note is about the COVID-era Zoom background image I used to get through a toxic job, and how I manifested that background into a reality on my trip to Amsterdam this week. https://substack.com/@heatherafar/note/c-251002984?r=1mnlg5&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web
Absolutely loved your manifestation full circle moment! And now you are living life doing what you truly want.
Thanks so much. It's scary to have everything you want, you know? Always wondering when the other shoe will drop. Hopefuly--never. Hopefully--I'm finally where I was supposed to be all along. :)

Hi! I’ll post another share thread tomorrow!

Hi I am a retired nurse, writer and musician. I write about creativity, spirituality and grief.

I just found you! I'm so glad. I'm a little obsessed with helping women build lives of purpose in their second half. Midlife isn't a crisis, it's an invitation. Been walking through it myself for about 8 years and just wrote some field notes from the journey. Editing that project now. Nice to meet you all! https://substack.com/@girlcatchfire/note/c-249122909?r=kgzxf&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web
I love that perspective — midlife as an invitation! I’m glad you found us too!! :)

You can still post your writing here! You’re not too late. There will be a new thread next Friday but this one will stay up all week.

Love the name of your page! And the saying “you tell me your story and, somehow, I get mine.” We are all connected ❤️
Thank you Janelle. I really feel it. I love this place.
My latest is my response to that horrifying CNN expose on the "online rape academy", and how people who immediately jump to Not All Men are using the tactics of narcissistic abuse. https://thelongclimb.substack.com/p/the-inherent-narcissism-of-not-all
My latest note. I *really* don’t want to leave.
